Maruti Suzuki India, country’s leading auto giant is currently working on the new Ciaz sedan which is due for its arrival. Considering the media reports, it is believed that the Indo-Japanese car maker will be launching the new Ciaz facelift in August. Moreover, the bookings for the new sedan will commence closer to the launch date which could be around July 2018. Also, test mules of the new Ciaz facelift has been spotted previously which indicates that the sedan will carry minor cosmetic updations. As a reminder, the car maker recently launched the new Swift 2018 hatchback in the country at the Auto Expo 2018 with a price tag of INR 4.99 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). Having said that the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will carry cosmetic updates, the sedan will be seen with an updated grille, new alloys, revamped bumper at the front and rear. However, the India-spec model will be different from the Chinese model (2018 Alivio Pro). Coming to the cabin, the facelifted version of Ciaz will sport all-black interiors, new touch-screen head unit, new instrument cluster with updated MID and new fabric upholstery and much more. On the mechanical front, the new Ciaz will continue to be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. However, the mechanical front of the sedan will be updated as it will carry a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit. As per the reports, the new diesel unit will replace Fiat sourced 1.3-litre engine. Moreover, a new report also states that the current 1.5-litre petrol unit will be replaced by 1.4-litre petrol mill. However, exact details and specifications of the engines have not been revealed yet. Transmission duties will be carried out by 5-speed or 6-speed manual along with an automatic gearbox. Once launched in the country, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will compete against Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and upcoming Toyota Yaris. As far as the pricing is concerned, the new Ciaz will be slightly pricier than the outgoing model. Expect the sedan to fall in the price bracket of INR 8 lakh to INR 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
