Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), country’s leading auto manufacturer will be launching the third generation Maruti Swift at the Auto Expo 2018 next month. Alongside the new Swift 2018, the car maker is expected to unveil range of products at the auto show. One such product is likely to be new generation Maruti Ertiga which has been spied testing on Indian roads in the past. The new Ertiga MPV has been spied yet again ahead of its public debut next month. The MPV is internally code-named as Maruti YHA that is likely to be offered in 9-seater layout. Going by the spy shot, the test mule of the new 2018 Ertiga features projector headlamps which is expected to be seen on the production model. To be based on Suzuki’s Heartect platform that also underpins the upcoming Swift 2018 and Baleno. Moreover, the forthcoming MPV could sport brand new architecture with bigger proportions than the predecessor. It will be longer than the current Ertiga but could be wider in order to create more space inside the cabin. As far as the powerhouse options are concerned, the new Ertiga is expected to get the same set of powertrain options seen on the current model. The current generation Ertiga gets 1.4-litre K Series VVT petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines. It is also reported that the new 2018 Ertiga will be powered by 1.5-litre diesel in spite of current 1.3-litre diesel unit. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the inside, the new Eriga is expected to get similar interior to that of Dzire. Feature-wise, the new generation MPV is expected to feature touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and much more. On the price point front, the new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is expected to be priced in the bracket of INR 7 lakh to INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the new Ertiga MPV will compete against Mahindra U321 MPV, Renault Lodgy and others in the segment.
