Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 heads to Chile, South America

Maruti Suzuki seems to be on a roll at the moment. After exporting its successful MPV, the Ertiga in the Indonesian market as a rebadged Mazda VX1 (under Suzuki-Mazda deal), the carmaker is all set to launch yet another model in yet another international market.

Going by the reports, the exports of India’s bestselling car, the Alto 800 have begun. The car, in fact, has been launched in Chile, South America. The Alto 800 sold in Chile is visually the same as the India-spec model; however it comes in left-hand drive configuration. The car is available in three variants – the no-frills GL, DLX and the DLX with AC.

Underneath too, the mechanicals remain identical to the India-spec model. The car is powered by the same 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine with around 48PS of power. With the launch of the Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki adds yet another model to its export lineup for Chile. The company already sells the Alto K10 and the Swift Dzire in the South American market.
