Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 launched at Rs 2.44-lakh

Maruti Suzuki’s most awaited hatchback, the Alto 800 has been launched in India with petrol and CNG options.

Maruti Suzuki has officially launched its Alto 800 entry-level small car in India as a replacement to the current model. While co-existing with the Alto K10 and the Maruti 800 (BSIII markets only), the Alto 800 will be available in petrol and CNG versions with four variants each – Standard, LX, LXi and LXi with Airbag.  

The Alto 800 picks up where the older, iconic Alto left off. Powering the petrol variant is a 3-cylinder, 800cc F8D unit that produces 50PS of max power and 69Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with cable shift mechanism. The familiar F8D engine is known for being high on fuel efficiency and low on maintenance. The CNG option also makes the Alto 800 one of most value-for-money cars with a low cost of ownership. The ARAI tested fuel mileage figure stand at 22.7 kmpl for the petrol variant and 30.46 km/kg for the CNG variant. Fuel tank capacity of the Alto 800 is 35 litres. 

 

The Alto 800 starts at Rs 2.44 lakh and stretches all the way up to Rs 3.56 lakh. The new version of the Alto will continue to fight the likes of the Hyundai Eon, the Chevrolet Spark and the Tata Nano.

 

The new Alto looks modern and up-to-date while maintaining the conservative approach to styling – a move that has made it so popular for all these years. The Alto 800 will be offered in a total of 6 colour options our of which, four are new: Frost Blue, Blazing Red Pearl, Torque Blue Pearl, Granite Grey, Superior White and Silky Silver.
