Maruti Suzuki Baleno, New Dzire & Vitara Brezza continues to demand huge waiting period
Due to the overwhelming response received for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Vitara Brezza and New Dzire, the automaker's current backlog has now swelled to 1.5 lakh units.
Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest automobile manufacturer is currently enjoying an upsurge in it’s sales from the first quarter of the current fiscal, thanks to some of the new additions to it’s product portfolio. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, launched last year, this premium hatchback has been a front runner for the Indo-Japanese automaker and so is the Vitara Brezza compact SUV. Both of these have now been joined by the all new Dzire, the latest iteration of the largest selling compact sedan in India. But this increased demand has now also led to an overburden on Maruti Suzuki’s factories, resulting in a massive backlog. According to a report published in the The Hindu Business Line, for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the new Dzire, the current waiting period stands in excess of 16 weeks (four months) while that of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is clocks over 22 weeks (five and half months). The situation has somewhat improved with Maruti’s Gujarat plant coming into operation. For the first quarter of this fiscal, this new manufacturing plant churned out a total of 24,000 units. That said, the plant is speculated to start working at full-capacity by the end of this fiscal, helping Maruti to streamline it’s delivering with the amount of orders received. Maruti Suzuki, in the coming months is going to launch a couple more new products in the Indian car market. The likes of these include the mid-life facelift iteration of Maruti’s premium crossover, the S-Cross. Also included in the list will be the petrol derivative of the compact SUV Vitara Brezza and, by next year we are to witness the launch of the next-generation Swift hatchback. Maruti Suzuki is speculated to launch the mid-life facelift iteration of the Celerio compact hatchback as well soon. In the current fiscal, thanks to the robust sales of the Vitara Brezza, Baleno, Ignis and New Dzire, the market share for Maruti Suzuki in the PV segment has gone up to 50.5 percent. This is a commendable increase from the last fiscal’s 46. 2 percent share. With the implementation of the GST taxation scheme, there was an initiation slow down, but according to the company management, the same has now picked up once again with improved sales expected in the coming months due to the approaching festive season.
