Maruti Suzuki Baleno to now get CVT automatic gearbox in top spec Alpha variant
Prices for the Maruti Baleno, in the Alpha trim with the CVT automatic gearbox is slotted at INR 834,052 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has today announced that from now on, the top spec Alpha variant of the Baleno premium hatchback will be made available with a CVT automatic gearbox. Till now, the CVT gearbox was only available on the Delta and Zeta trims of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Buyers can now choose the automatic gearbox without letting go of features like Smartphone Linkage Display Audio that works with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. Prices for the Maruti Baleno, in the Alpha trim with the CVT automatic gearbox is slotted at INR 834,052 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been quite a successful product for the automaker in India, so far, since its launch in October 2015, has sold over 200,000 units in the country. The premium hatchback managed to clock over 100.000 units withing just a year of it’s launch. Sold through Maruti’s Nexa dealerships, the Baleno has continuously made its way, month after month into the list of top 10 best selling cars. The hatchback came will multiple segment first features like like Apple Car Play and standard safety features like dual airbags and ABS with EBD. Expanding the Baleno line-up, Maruti Suzuki this year launched the performance oriented Baleno RS in India. Powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine, which churns out 101bhp along with 150Nm of peak torque, the Baleno RS become the first of it’s kind from the Indo-Japanese automaker. Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is exported to over 100 countries, under the government’s ‘Make in India’ scheme. Till now 68,000 units of Baleno have been exported across the world including Japan, Australia, New Zealand and several parts of Europe and Latin. For Maruti Suzuki, the contribution of two pedal technology has increased from 6 percent in FY 2014-15 to 11 percent in 2016-17. Penetration of new technologies depends upon their affordability and relevance to customers. America. The automaker aims at making this tech more affordable to the customers, with a mission to double the two-pedal contribution from the current levels approximately (150,000 units) and achieve 300,000 mark by 2020. Currently, in the Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio, the two pedal technologies include Auto Gear Shift in Celerio, Wagon R, Alto K-10, Ignis and now DZIRE, while CVT is offered in Baleno and AT in Ciaz and Ertiga.
