Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai & Tata cars to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018
The upcoming Auto Expo 2018 will have a lot on store for everyone. Country's largest automobile manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata are to bring forth a number of new products to this event; here is a quick glance.
Come Auto Expo 2018 and a whole array of new cars and SUVs are going to either get launched or showcased for the first time India. These new vehicles will comprise of all the major segments which currently exist in India and will be from indigenous as well as international manufacturers alike. Three of country’s leading automotive manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India and Tata Motors will be showcasing a number of important products at the Auto Expo 2018. Here is a complete list of all the cars to be showcased or launched by each one of these above mentioned auto brands at one of the biggest automotive event in India due to happen next year. Maruti Suzuki cars to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018: Maruti Suzuki India Limited will showcase the new Swift 2017 hatchback, Next-Gen Alto, Next-Gen Wagon R and the Ciaz facelift at the 2018 Auto Expo. New Maruti Suzuki Swift: The 2017 iteration of Maruti Suzuki’s one of the biggest success in India, the Swift hatchback will for sure be one of the biggest attractions of the Auto Expo 2018. To be a lot more sporty than before, the 2017 Swift will be based on Suzuki’s new HEARTECH platfrom which also underpins the likes of Ignis, Baleno and Dzire. That said, the powertrain, both the diesel and petrol units will remain exactly the same as before. Prices are to fall in the range of INR 4.5 lakh to 7.5 lakh.

Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Alto: Maruti Suzuki’s largest selling vehicle in India, the Alto, is also due for a generation update. During the 2018 Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki could showcase a concept form, if not a full production ready avatar of the next-gen iteration of the Alto. It is to be believed that the 2018 Maruti Alto will primarily be styled and equipped to compete against the likes of Renault KWID. Prices will remain competitive; engine options will be carry forward as well.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift: Maruti Suzuki’s C-Segment sedan, the Ciaz, currently the leader in its category and now sold through the automaker’s Nexa chain of dealerships will get it’s mid-life facelift next year. The automaker is expected to showcase the same at the Auto expo 2018. The changes done are primarily to be concentrated towards the front and the rear of the vehicle on the outside while the cabin is also to feature minor feature updates. In terms of engine specifications, the Ciaz facelift is likely to get a bigger 1.5-litre diesel engine.

New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: Maruti Suzuki’s Blue eyed boy, the Wagon R tall boy hatchback is also due for a generation update. Though no official confirmation exists, the next-gen Wagon R is likely to also be based on the automaker’s HEARTECH platform. A complete revamp of the exterior and interior profile will be done with the engine options remaining the same as before.

Hyundai cars to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018: Country’s second largest automobile manufacturer, Hyundai Motors India is expected to showcase the next-gen Santro, 2018 Sonata, Creta facelift and the Carlino compact SUV at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. Next-Generation Santro: As Maruti preps its Wagon R for a generation update, it’s original competitor, the Hyundai Santro is also to soon get reborn in a completely new avatar. Set to replace the aging Hyundai i10, the next-gen Santro is going to be a step-up when it comes to the rivals, that said, it is likely to borrow it’s engine line-up from the currently on sale Hyundai Grand i10.

Hyundai Carlino Compact SUV: To take on the rivals in the compact SUV space, Hyundai will launch the Carlino compact SUV in India. Set to be showcased in it’s final production ready avatar at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the Carlino will be born out of Hyundai Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. In terms of features and interior build quality, the Carlino is going to be a notch up from it’s competition, that said, prices are expected to be a tad on the steeper side.

Hyundai Creta Facelift: The Hyundai Creta facelift is yet another important product to be showcased by the South Korean automaker at the Auto Expo 2018. With the makeover, the Creta is to get a restyled front end along with a slightly modified interior as well. The engine options are to remain the same as before however, the prices are likely to go up a tad bit.

2018 Hyundai Sonata: Apart from re-introducing the next-gen Santro, Hyundai Motor India is also to bring in the latest iteration of the Sonata premium sedan to India as well. Set to compete in the segment of Skoda Superb, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is set to be made available with a choice of both petrol as well as diesel derivatives.

Tata Motors cars to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018: Tata Motors, our very own homegrown automaker will showcase its all new 7-seater premium SUV, code-named the Q501, Tiago Sport and the Racemo sportscar at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Tata Q501 SUV: Addressing the premium SUV segment, Tata Motors will launch, its Land Rover Defender based, full-sized SUV in India sometime next year. The automaker is expected to showcase this very product at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, in it’s almost production ready avatar. The Tata Q501 SUV will sport an exterior profile which will be an amalgamation of Tata’s IMPACT design and the rugged outlines of a Land Rover Defender. Engine options are believed to be Tata’s 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel motor.

Tata Tiago Sport: Banking on the success of the Tiago compact hatchback, Tata Motors, in replacement to the Bolt Sport, will now be debuting the Tiago Sport in India. It is speculated that the Tiago sport will feature a turbocharged, 1.2-litre petrol engine, the same which is to power the Nexon compact SUV. Not only this, the Tiago Sport will get a number of aesthetic updates as well, both on the outside and well as on the inside.

Tata Racemo: Tata Motors first mid-engined sports car, Racemo, unveiled first at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, is also expected to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Though, according to some media reports, it is to be believed that Tata Motors have scrapped the Racemo project, speculating the initiative to be highly cost ineffective and that to focus these resources on the automaker’s commercial vehicle division. Nevertheless, the Racemo will be, in itself a sight to behold.
