Maruti Suzuki India, country’s leading auto brand has been focusing on two-pedal technology for quite some time now. After introducing the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology in recently launched Maruti Dzire, the Indo-Japanese car maker has brought the same technology in its premium urban compact vehicle – Maruti Ignis. As the demand for the two-pedal technology seems to be evolving, the car maker aim at leaving no stones un-turned in expanding its AGS technology in the current portfolio. Offered on the top of the line trim – Alpha, the petrol variant is priced at INR 7.01 lakh while the diesel version gets a price tag of INR 8.08 lakh (All Prices Ex-showroom Delhi). Mr R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited stated that, “Our premium urban compact vehicle IGNIS has been created for millennials, a none of a kind brand in the Indian market. Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) on the IGNIS, so far offered in the Delta and Zeta trims, has been widely appreciated by customers and accounts for 27% of IGNIS sales. We are now offering AGS in the top trim as well – IGNIS Alpha. Based on the new generation rigid platform embodying Suzuki Total Effective Control Technology (TECT), Maruti Suzuki Ignis was launched in the domestic market earlier this year. Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is offered in both petrol and diesel options. The former is powered by 1.2-litre petrol engine which is capable of developing maximum power of 81 bhp @ 6000rpm against the peal torque of 113Nm @ 4200 rpm while the latter is equipped with 1.3-litre DDiS 190 unit capable of producing 74 bhp @ 4000 rpm with a torque of 190Nm @ 2000 rpm. As far as the safety is concerned, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis comes equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and seat belts with pre-tensioner force limiter (PTFL) as standard fitments. Moreover, this premium offering from Maruti Suzuki also comes with ISOFIX Anchorage and a child seat restraint system as standard equipments across all the variants. Maruti Suzuki Ignis is also compliant for pedestrian safety, side impact as well as offset crash regulations.
