Country’s largest automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has now issued an update for its models equipped with the older Smartplay infotainment system. The system which features on cars like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, Ertiga and S-Cross is now to be updated with Android Auto connectivity feature. Earlier, Maruti Suzuki’s Smartplay infotainment system came only with the support of Apple Car Play. This touchscreen multi-media system also comes equipped in the automaker’s newer cars like the new Dzire and the Ignis where it already comes equipped with Android Auto connectivity. With this update, the system becomes complete and at par with infotainment systems available on cars made by other manufacturers. The introduction of Android Auto by Maruti Suzuki in its Smartplay infotainment system comes as a wise decision as more people in India use Android phones as compared to Apple ones. Not only this, the update comes with a new navigation software with updated maps. Talking about the Smartplay infotainment system, the unit is a 7-inch WVGA TFT display which comes with Bluetooth connectivity and can be operated through voice commands. Maruti Suzuki’s Smartplay infotainment system comes with multi-source selection, AM-FM, intuitive playback management, smartphone display on head-unit, mirror link car mode, navigation with saved destination, route customization and much more. The software update which is of 2.5 GB in size can be done through any authorized Maruti Suzuki service center. The automaker is offering this upgrade free of cost to all customers who have cars equipped with the older versions of the Smartplay infotainment system.
