After launching the new generation Swift at the Auto Expo 2018, Maruti Suzuki India is now gearing up to roll out new products in the domestic market. It is rumoured that the next product from the Indo-Japanese car maker could be the new Ciaz mid-size sedan which is likely to be powered by new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Expected to launch in the month of August, the booking phase is speculated to commence from July. The new upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara will be Indo-Japanese car maker’s answer for Hyundai’s bestselling car. The SUV has been awaited in the domestic market since long and spy shots are indications that the car will be seen on the Indian roads soon. Going by the spy images, the testing vehicle looks production ready, expect the SUV to hit the Indian showrooms by early next year. As far as the dimensions are concerned, the new upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara will measure 4175mm in length, 1775mm in width and 1610mm in height along with wheelbase of 2500mm. Mechanically, the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara could be powered by 1.6-litre DDiS Fiat sourced diesel unit along with all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine. It is the same engine which is expected to be seen on the upcoming Ciaz sedan as well. The diesel engine is tuned to make 120PS of max power with peak torque of 320Nm. Transmission duties on both the mills are expected to be carried out by a manual gearbox, most likely 6-speed manual along with Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system.

On the feature front, the forthcoming Vitara SUV from the stable of country’s leading auto manufacturing company will be loaded with hi-tech features and equipment. It will be loaded with touchscreen infotainment unit which will compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also come fitted with other driver assistance and safety features. Coming to the price point, the forthcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara is expected to carry a competitive price tag. We speculate that the SUV will be slotted in the bracket of INR 10 lakh to INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched in the country, the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara will heat up the segment by competing against Renault Duster, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, Honda BR-V and others.
