For years, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R has been one of the top-selling small cars in Indian market however, in the wake of rising competition from newer rivals; the WagonR is starting to lose its sheen. Which is why to spice things up, Maruti Suzuki is said to be planning to launch the WagonR Stingray, a premium version of the standard model sold here in India.
The WagonR Stingray, a more upmarket offering with modern styling and more features, has been on sale in the Japanese market since 2007. With its sporty looks delivering an aggressive stance, the WagonR Stingray seems much more appealing than the car that we have here.
While the Japanese-spec WagonR Stingray comes powered by a tiny albeit modern 660cc petrol engine, Maruti will continue with the 1-litre, 3 cylinder K-Series petrol engine if it decides to launch it here in the Indian market. The same engine can also be found in the A-Star and the Alto K10.
