Maruti Swift 2018 Gets Waiting Period of up to 8 Weeks Before India Launch
New Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 is expected to get a starting price of INR 4.9 Lakh (ex-showroom) which will take on the rivals -Hyundai Grand i10, Volkswagen Polo, Ford Figo, Honda Brio, Nissan Micra and others.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is all set to launch the new generation Swift 2018 hatchback at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018 next month. The company has initiated the bookings for the third generation Swift with initial payment of INR 11,000. The new avatar of Swift already demands a tentative waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks before its launch for both petrol and diesel variants reports TeamBHP. Moreover, the actual waiting period may vary depending upon the variant as well as colour. The next-gen Swift is based on 5th generation Heartect platform which also underpins Baleno, Ignis, Dzire and upcoming Ertiga. The new generation Swift will be offered in 12 variants across 4 trim levels – L, V, Z and Z+. It will also be available in 6 colours – Prime Lucent Orange, Prime Midnight Blue, SLD Fire Red, PRL Arctic White, Met Silky Silver and Met Magma Grey. The exterior front, the new Swift 2018 gets new grille upfront, sweptback projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, new bumper, diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lights and much more.
Inside, the overall layout of the cabin on the Swift remains similar to the Dzire 2017 with all-black treatment. It also comes with new SmartPlay infotainment system with the 7-inch touchscreen and connectivity options such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. As far as the safety is concerned, the new Maruti Swift 2018 also gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist and ISOFIX child safety seat mounts as standard across the variants. Powering the new Swift 2018 will be the same 1.2-litre K12 VVT 4-cylinder petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS 190 diesel as seen on the predecessor. The petrol mill makes 83 bhp of max power @ 6000 rpm with 140Nm of torque whereas the oil burner churns out 74 bhp @ 4000 rpm against 190Nm of peak torque @ 2000 rpm. Both the engines will be mated with 5-speed manual gearbox along with 5-speed AMT unit as option.
