Maruti Suzuki India will be showcasing range of new products at the upcoming Indian motor show next month. One such hot pick will be the new generation Swift 2018 which has been spied up-close on the Indian roads down South. The next generation Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 has been awaited in the domestic market ever since it was launched in the Indonesian market. The 2018 generation model will be based on Suzuki’s light weight Heartect platform making it more fuel efficient and safer than the outgoing version. We previously reported that some Maruti dealers have started taking booking orders unofficially for the new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 with token amount of INR 11,000. The third generation Swift will take on the rivals such as Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo in the B-segment under the hatchback category. On the dimension front, the new Swift 2018 will be smaller in comparison to its predecessor which will measure 3940 mm in length, 1695 mm in width and 1500 mm in height along with wheelbase of 2450 mm. The interiors on the new Swift will be similar to its elder sibling – Dzire featuring SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple Smart Play on the top-end models. It will also feature flat-bottom steering wheel, TFT MID unit, all-black fabric upholstery, engine start-stop button, reverse parking camera and much more. Under the hood, the new Swift 2018 will be loaded with the same engines as seen on the current model. The petrol engine will be a 1.2-litre K-series unit capable of making 83 bhp with 114Nm of power figures while the oil burner will be Fiat sourced 1.3-litre Multijet turbo-charged diesel that can make 74 bhp of max power with 190Nm of torque. Both the unit will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard along with 5-speed AMT on the former only. The new generation Swift is expected to launch in the domestic market soon after its public debut at the Auto Expo 2018. The deliveries are anticipated to commence soon after India launch.
