The French automaker is planning to add new variants to Kwid lineup. The company is planning to introduce a more powerful variant of the small car, which is likely to get a 1.0-litre petrol engine. Moreover, the company will also introduce an AMT-equipped variant of the small car. The Kwid AMT will directly rival against the Maruti Alto K10.

Mahindra Quanto AMT-
At the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, Mahindra showcased the Quanto AMT. After introducing AMT technology in TUV300, the homegrown SUV maker is ready to launch the new Quanto with automated manual transmission. It is expected that the vehicle will go on sale at the upcoming 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

Tata Zica/Zica based compact sedan-
Tata Motors will launch the Zica compact hatch in January, 2016, which will be offered with five-speed manual gearbox. However, the company confirmed that an AMT-equipped variant will come on later stage. Adding to it, the homegrown automaker will also launch Zica based compact sedan in 2016. This model is also likely to get an automated manual transmission. Both models are expected to get F-Tronic AMT gearbox, which is currently offered with Tata Zest and the GenX Nano.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Diesel AMT-
It has been a while since Maruti Suzuki is testing an automatic equipped Swift Dzire diesel on Indian roads. The vehicle will get an AMT transmission, which currently offered with Celerio, Wagon R and the Alto K10. The Dzire AMT will rival against the Zest compact sedan as it is the only compact sedan equipped with AMT unit.

Nissan's low-cost brand- Datsun is all set to launch its cheapest car in the Indian car market in early 2016. Based on Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-A platform that also underpins Renault Kwid, the small car will make its global debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. It will directly rival against the Maruti Alto 800. Powering the small car will be a 0.8-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that is good for 52bhp and 74Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a five-speed manual and an AMT unit.
