Mercedes Benz India will today launch the GLC 43 4-MATIC AMG in India. Born out of the AMG division of the German automaker, the GLC 43 4-MATIC is expected to be priced in the bracket of INR 80 to 85 lakh. Mercedes has AMG performance division which brings out the most ludicrous and powerful cars from their stable. They have come out with yet another car which seems promising. The GLC43 Coupe is a super-structure based on the previously made Mercedes GLC300. It is possible that the SUVish Coupe might get to see an Indian launch. The GLC43 Coupe is propelled by a 3-litre twin turbo 367-horsepower V6 engine that makes 520Nm of torque and sends its power through a nine-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels. This results in a brisk 0-100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited 250km/h top speed. Its closest rival is the BMW X4 M40i which is also a 3.0 liter turbo engine producing 355 hp but still manages to undercut the GLC by 0.2 sec. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system is rear-biased, that too with a steep ratio of 31:69 torque split. Mercedes’ baby SUV gets the usual ‘Dynamic Select’ fare that includes Eco, Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. GLC43 Coupe also has a sport-tuned suspension for improved handling whereas the Air Body Control suspension system has various modes and can also lift the crossover to provide ground clearance for some light off-roading, although the tires are definitely suited to street use only. There’s also a complete AMG appearance package on the exterior, which one must admit looks astonishing, especially black. The running boards ease the entry and exit from the car while enhancing the overall SUV stance. The quad-exhaust setup adds to the performance oriented design whereas its coupe-like roof line looks quite elegant. Of course it has the AMG badging which differentiates it from the regular GLC300. The interiors have sport seats with black MB-Tex and microfiber with red stitching, and a meaty, multi-function steering wheel with the same color combination. The seat belts are also adorned in red to keep the colour coordination in check. Lap times can be recorded on the days you decide to test its full potential on a track, with the included Race Timer. To top it all, the gauges have a checkered-flag in the background which provide the car with a mad AMG-like feel.
