Mercedes-Benz India, India’s largest luxury car maker has today launched the ‘Beast of the Green Hell’ the Mercedes-AMG GT R and the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster, its topless cousin. While the AMG GT R is priced in India at INR 2.23 crore, the AMG GT Roadster is priced at INR 2.19 crore. Both the cars are the latest additions to the company’s performance car portfolio in the country and has strengthened Mercedes-Benz’s position in the performance car segment in India. Both cars were launched by Mr. Roland Folger, CEO & Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz India to celebrate the #50YearsOfAMG. The Mercedes-AMG GT R comes equipped with features like the AMG Traction control, new Panamericana grille, AMG electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential, AMG Performance exhaust system with titanium elements, AMG Ride Control sports suspension, AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, Exclusive light weight AMG Performance 10-twin-spoke forged wheels, Carbon-fibre roof, AMG Performance steering wheel in black DINAMICA microfiber with top-stitching and AMG Interior Night package. Performance enthusiasts can customize the AMG GT R and the AMG GT Roadster under Mercedes-Benz’ designo customization platform.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R is powered by a 3982cc 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that produces a maximum power of 585 PS at 6250 RPM along with a peak torque of 700 Nm between 1900-5500 RPM. This engine comes mated to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT sports transmission. The AMG GT R can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3.6 seconds, while the car has a top speed of 318 kmph. On the other hand, Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is powered by the same 3982cc 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine, but produces 476 PS of maximum power at 6000 RPM while developing 630 Nm of peak torque between 1700-5000 RPM, mated to the same 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT sports transmission.
