The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class will go head to head with Audi A3 and it is the cheapest offering for Mercedes India. The car has been launched in with two engine options and will be available in three different variants. Unlike the previous offerings like the A-Class and B-Class, which were only available in petrol variant, the CLA-Class comes with both petrol and diesel options. Moreover, Mercedes is offering the luxury saloon in three variants namely, the CLA 200 CDI Style, CLA 200 CDI Sport and CLA 200 Sport (Petrol).
On the exterior front as we had already mentioned in our earlier reports the CLA-Class shares most of its similarities with the A-Class hatchback. The CLA-Class uses the same floating dots grille, massively sculpted air intakes and chin spoiler that sits rather prominently in the front. That being said the CLA-Class also has its own ingenuity like the gorgeously designed rear with the twin tail pipes, the aggressively sketched bumper and curved haunches lit by attractively designed LED tail lamps. Moreover the coupe-like appearance, frameless doors and 17 inch wheels adds uniqueness to the CLA-Class.

Inside the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class sports the same overall design as its hatchback and MPV sibling, the quality, the fit and finish and the choice of materials and everything. Apart from its quality trims the CLA-Class offerings include two-zone climate control for the diesel variant, and a manual single zone unit for petrol, a larger tablet like display with updated infotainment system, sunroof, reversing camera and electrically adjustable memory seats. As for the safety features the CLA-Class comes with six airbags, attention assist and ESP as standard feature. The top trims get kit like a rain-sensing panoramic sunroof, onboard web browsing via phone hotspot, a navigation system, premium Harman Kardon music system and a reversing camera.
Like its siblings the GLA, A- and B-Class, even the CLA-Class is based on the front-wheel drive MFA architecture. Powering the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 183.5PS of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque and a new 2.2-litre oil-burner, capable of churning out 136PS of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. The transmission duties in both the petrol and diesel variants are handles by 7G-DCT automatic gearbox with a dual clutch setup.
