
The Indian automotive market has become more demanding and today many buyers opt for a sportier and more performance oriented car. Having the largest network among luxury car brands in India Mercedes is well aware of this fact and that is why the company in now entering the market with much smaller, younger and sportier models. The CLA-Class is much sleeker and compact compared to Mercedes-Benz’s flagship sedans and shares the same underpinning as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, B-Class and the recently launched GLA-Class.
On design front Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class shares a number of aspects with A-Class like the floating dots grille, massively sculpted air intakes and chin spoiler that sits rather prominently in the front. Inside the CLA-Class you get the same overall design as its hatchback and MPV sibling but with some updates in the form of two-zone climate control, larger screen with updated infotainment system and different colours for the dashboard.
Offered both in petrol and diesel variants, the CLA-Class comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine the produces 183.5PS of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. As for the diesel variants that comes with a new 2.2-litre oil-burner, capable of 136PS of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. Both the petrol and diesel engines will be mated to Mercedes-Benz’s tried and tested 7G-DCT automatic transmission with a dual clutch setup. When launched, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class will rival the likes of Audi A3.
