Is it a launch or preview? It was the official launch of the car at the IAA but the images of the car had leaked a few weeks earlier, forcing Mercedes to officially unveil the car in August.

Why is it important? The B-Class is Merc's practical car at Frankfurt, as opposed to the dreamy F-125! It also takes the premium brand to the B segment for the first time and is expected to give the VWs and Hondas some serious competition in Europe. The car will be powered by 1.6 litre and 1.8 litre engines but more importantly it comes loaded with features like Pre-Safe, Blind Spot and Lane Keeing Assist, Distronic Plus and Linguatronic.

Is it relevant to India? While the car debuts in Europe, Mercedes does plan to bring the B-Class to India sometime next year. Expect to see it at the Auto Expo early 2012.
