Mini Cooper special editions launched in UK

SE Mini Baker Street and Mini Bayswater honour the upcoming 2012 London Olympics; both models will go on sale worldwide.

The 2012 London Olympics will kick off on 27 July. As a part of the pre-Olympic push, Mini, which is now owned by German auto giant BMW, is paying homage to its home-country by introducing two new special editions, the Mini Baker Street and the Mini Bayswater, ahead of the 2012 London Olympics. Both models will go on sale worldwide by the end of 2012.

The Mini Bayswater is named after an extremely vibrant area of London and will be offered with Cooper and Cooper S variants that develop 121PS and 181PS of power respectively. The Bayswater is painted Kite Blue, with a black roof and hood stripes and 17-inch alloy wheels painted gloss black. Optional exterior metallic colors include Midnight Black and Eclipse Grey. The roof is finished in black and there are racing strips on the bonnet and mirror caps. On the inside, the SE Bayswater gets leather seats with side bolsters and contrast stitching. Other features include stainless steel pedals, piano black trim, the Chrome Line package and the Pepper Pack.

The Mini Baker Street takes its name from the address of the famous fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes. The Baker Street SE will be available with the 121PS Mini Cooper engine. It features a Rooftop Grey metallic paint scheme with black roof. Optional exterior colors include Pepper White and Midnight Black. On the inside, the SE Baker Street gets new seat material with contrast stitching as well as the Chrome Line package and the Pepper Pack.

Mini has stated that these models will go on sale worldwide, so they should be available through your local Mini dealer. If you want a Mini that’s more exclusive than the others in India, you could opt for the Bayswater or Baker Street.
