Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid launched in Europe

After officially showcasing it at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Mitsubishi has put the Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid on sale in Europe. The brand says it has received over 10,000 orders for this new model since December last year.

Production for the Outlander PHEV started in August in Japan and the plug-in hybrid model is now available to order. The first batch of vehicles has already arrived in Holland, with the company announcing that the car will be introduced in “selected PHEV markets” later this month.

Featuring Mitsubishi’s “Twin Motor 4WD” technology, the Outlander plug-in hybrid can cover up to 824 km (52 km when run purely on electricity). It is decently quick too with a top speed of 170kmph.  Mitsubishi says the batteries can be charged by up to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes using quick charging. However, a standard charging source will take around 5 hours to fully juice up the battery.
