More affordable Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI Ambition launched

Priced at Rs 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai)

Up until now, the Skoda Octavia powered by the enthusiasts’ favorite – the 1.8-litre TSI engine was offered only with the top-spec Elegance variant which costs nearly Rs 20 lakh on-road. Skoda though has now launched a more affordable Ambition variant of the model which comes in at Rs 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).     

This newly launched variant undercuts the 1.8 TSI Elegance by a good Rs 1.95 lakh. Skoda, however, has gotten rid of a few creature comforts in its quest to make the Ambition variant as affordable as possible. The car, as a result, makes do without xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, front parking sensors, side/curtain airbags, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, 12-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and headlamp washers.

However, the 1.8 TSI Ambition variant continues to feature essential equipment such as alloy wheels, climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, electric mirrors, dual airbags and ABS. Like the top-spec Elegance variant, the Ambition variant too gets a potent 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 180PS of power and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
