New Delhi: The much-awaited 2018 Hyundai Santro was launched in India on Tuesday. The Hyundai Motor India launched the all-new Santro in five variants – Dlite, Era, Magna, Asta and Sportz – with the prices ranging from Rs 3.89 lakh to Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India).
The Santro 2018 has made a comeback after being discontinued in 2015 and will replace the Eon. The most successful Hyundai hatchback among middle-class families, the Santro continues to enjoy the same fan following which it did 21 years back when it was launched in 1997 and has so far received around 2,50,000 pre-bookings.

The 2018 Santro comes in three engine options – manual, automatic and CNG. The new hatchback will come powered by a 1.1-litre petrol engine that makes 68 hp at 5500 rpm and is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.
The petrol versions get 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearboxes while the CNG models only get the former.

On the other hand, the CNG engine will generate 59bhp and deliver 20.3 kmpl fuel economy.
The new Santro comes in seven colours—Imperial Beige, Marina Blue, Fiery Red, Typhoon Silver, Polar White and Stardust.
Compared to the original model or even Maruti Suzuki’s WagonR, the new Santro is wider and taller (at 1,645mm and 1,560mm, respectively) than its competition, while being one of the shortest in length (at 3,610mm).
While the new Santro does not sport alloy wheels, it still comes with wheel caps. The higher models also come with coloured bumpers, wing mirrors and door handles.
Talking about the base model, the Santro Dlite neither comes with power steering now power windows, but features airbag and ABS on the driver’s side along with electronic brake distribution.
Santro Era, the just higher model, come with power steering and AC with heater.
On the other hand, the top-spec Santro Asta features rear parking sensors with a revering camera, rear wash, 7.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility, steering-mounted controls and power adjustable wing mirrors.
