To compete against the likes of recently launched Mercedes Benz E-Class LWB and the Volvo S90, BMW India will today launch the much awaited new 2017 5-Series in the Indian car market. To be imported as a CKD unit and assembled at the automaker’s Chennai plant, the new BMW 5-Series is expected to start at a base price of INR 50 lakh with its prices likely to go up to INR 65 lakh for the range topping model. The new-age avatar of this premium luxury sedan was first showcased to the world last year at the North American International Autoshow with several foreign markets already receiving the new model ahead of the India launch. The new BMW 5-Series gets a number of updates in its 2017 avatar. It comes with a number of updates and modifications. The exterior profile of the new BMW 5-Series takes some of its inspiration from the current gen 7-Series sedan and takes no slack when it comes to projecting a premium stance. The story continues inside the cabin as well where one gets a plush atmosphere. The sedan will come loaded with creature comforts like 10.25 inch touch-screen infotainment system with voice command and navigation, cruise control, automatic climate control, Bluetooth telephony among the others. Talking about the engine specifications of the new BMW 5-Series, this luxury sedan when it lands in India tomorrow will be made available with a choice of two engines. The petrol derivative is going to be a new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine while the diesel motor is to be an in-line 6-cylinder unit. The former is good for pumping out 248bhp along with 349Nm of peak torque while the latter is good for generating 335Bhp along with 450Nm of peak torque. As far as the prices go, the new BMW 5-Series is expected to start at a base price of INR 50 lakh with the top of the line model retailing at INR 65 lakh.
