New Honda Civic Facelift India Launch Likely in 2019

Unlike the previous model, the new Honda Civic facelift will get both petrol and diesel engine options.

Honda Car India Limited (HCIL) has reportedly confirmed that it will launch the 10th generation Honda Civic in India in the near future. A recent media report suggests that the company will launch the new Civic facelift in India in 2019. The new Honda Civic facelift will be manufactured locally in India and, unlike the previous model, will come equipped with both petrol as well as diesel power-train options. While the 10th generation Honda Civic is already on sale in the global markets, we will get the facelift model in India as by 2019 Honda will have a new model ready. The new Civic will be locally manufactured in India at Honda’s facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. However, the diesel engine will be manufactured at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. Offering a diesel option in the Civic will help the company in attracting more sales, something that the previous generation Civic lacked. Speaking about the Civic’s launch plans in India, Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO – Honda Cars India Ltd., said, “We have received a lot of requests for the Civic which is very successful in other countries. So we are studying this model for India and, so far, the result is very positive. So we are going to implement it here now.” That said, Honda Car India will continue to offer the new Civic with the same 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol unit that is good for 140 BHP of power and 174 Nm of peak torque. The diesel model will get a 1.6-litre i-DTEC unit that is capable of producing 118 BHP of maximum power at 4,000 RPM and 300 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 RPM. Both engines will get a manual as well as an automatic transmission.
