2018 Hyundai i20 Facelift will compete against the likes of upcoming Tata X451, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and others when launched in the country.
Hyundai, a South Korean automaker will be showcasing wide range of new products at the forthcoming Auto Expo 2018. We previously reported that the car maker might also launch the i20 Active at the biennial motor show. It is also learnt that the South Korean could also launch the new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 at the event which is undoubtedly one of the most awaited cars of the year 2018. The hatchback has been spied uncamouflaged at dealership ahead of its Auto Expo debut. It is also believed that the company will soon commence the bookings for the new i20. Going by the new spy shots, the facelifted avatar of the new Hyundai Elite i20 will carry minor updates on the exterior front which includes new cascading front grille, new front bumper, untouched headlights with integrated LED DRLs, new fog lamps, new tail light design, revised rear bumper and much more. The side profile of the hatchback remain untouched, however, gets new alloy wheel design. Moreover, the number plate has been lifted to the tailgate giving it a sleeker look. Inside the cabin, the overall appearance of the interior seems similar to the outgoing model with no major changes. Moreover, the dashboard design, colour pattern too seems to be lifted from the current model, however, some minor changes on the infotainment system are expected. Under the hood, the new Elite i20 facelift will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa which will be mated to a CVT gearbox, replacing the 1.4-litre Kappa petrol mill. The new petrol unit will develop 82 bhp of max power with peak torque of 115Nm. On the other hand, the 1.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine will be untouched which will continue to produce 89 bhp and 220Nm of power figures and will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Once launched, the new Elite 2018 facelift will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Ford Figo, Tata X451 and others in the premium hatchback segment.
