We informed you earlier that Hyundai Motor India is soon going to revamp its entire product portfolio and that it plans to launch several new products and well as re-introduce some of its previous iconic brand in our market. One of these is to be the next-gen Hyundai Santro which is expected to arrive in India by the year 2018. Now it would not be wrong to assume that Hyundai might just equip this new Santro with an AMT gearbox.

The engine specifications of the new Hyundai Santro 2018 are expected to include two petrol engines. One is to be a 1.0-litre unit, while the other is to be a 1.2-litre motor. As standard, the transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox. But in order to tackle the competition, the likes of which are to include the Tata Tiago, Maruti Wagon R among the others, Hyundai could include the an AMT gearbox in the new age Santro as well.

The next-generation Hyundai Santro is expected to get a completely new design as it will be a completely new vehicle from the ground up. It is to feature, a new cabin layout and will be considerably more feature rich in comparison to its previous gen model. The Santro was phased out of the Indian car market in the year 2014 with the introduction of the Hyundai i10. In the 16 years of its sales in India, about 1.9 million units of this hatchback were sold.

The next-gen Hyundai Santro will be locally manufactured in India. This will make its a highly competitive product in terms of it price point.
