Hyundai, India’s second largest car maker and leading exporter launched the highly awaited Next-Gen Verna in India earlier this month with an attractive price point of INR 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). As the prices are introductory, the South Korean automaker will keep the prices intact till first 20,000 buyers. The company previously revealed that the company has bagged around 4000 bookings for the new 2017 Verna ahead of its official India launch. Intended to dominate the C-segment, the new Hyundai Verna has received an overwhelming response from the market with 7000 bookings and more than 70,000 enquiries since its launch. Based on the K2 platform, the new Hyundai Verna 2017 is basically a scaled down version of elder sibling – Hyundai Elantra. The fifth generation Hyundai Verna is built on 4 pillars – Futuristic Design, Dynamic Performance, Super safety, New Technology & Advanced Features. On the exterior front, the next generation Verna sports wider & cascading grille with chrome embellishment, sweptback headlamps with projector unit at the front proffering the sedan with an appealing look. While, the side profile of the sedan exhibits a sloping roof line along with new pair of 5-spoke alloy wheels that proffers the sedan with a uniform look. The rear end gets a sleek look with bigger wrap-around tail lights and number plate housing has been shifted to the center of the boot lid. In terms of dimensions, the all-new Hyundai Verna gets length of 4,405 mm, width of 1,729 mm and height of 1,469 mm whereas the wheelbase stands at 2,600 mm. Inside the cabin, the all-new Verna sports dual tone cabin space unlike the outgoing model. Feature-wise, the sedan carries keyless entry, push-button start, automatic climate control and rear AC vents. Moreover, the top end variant is expected to sport a 7-inch touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice control & satellite navigation, 3-spoke multi-functional leather steering, gearshift knob and seats and more. In terms of safety, the all-new Verna features parking sensors, reverse camera, ABS with EBD and 6-airbags as safety features. Coming to the powerhouse options, the sedan is offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is a 1.6-litre VTVT Gamma petrol unit which is tuned to produce 121 bhp with 151Nm and comes mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AT unit. Priced in the range of INR 7.99 lakh to INR 12.61 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the new Hyundai Verna will compete against the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
