If media reports are to be believed, the new Quanto will share styling cues with the Genio facelift. Adding to it, the new Quanto could be named the Canto SUV. Codenamed U215, the SUV will compete against the likes of the crossover SUVs like Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Ford EcoSport and several crossover hatchbacks.
The new Quanto is likely to get a new black metal grille with silver accent and Mahindra badge, new bonnet, large air dams, sleeker headlamps and chrome surround fog lamps. The interiors are expected to be slightly up-market with good quality plastic. Mechanically, the SUV is expected to remain unchanged except for the new transmission options. It is expected to get a 5-speed AMT that Mahindra calls AutoShift. Powering the SUV is a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine producing 100bhp of power along with 240Nm of torque.
