Maruti Suzuki is expected to soon launch the new Swift in India. Ahead of its official India launch, the India-spec all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 has been spied for the first time in the country. The images, courtesy of ‘CarsandBunmaska’, reveals the exterior and alloy wheel design of the new Swift. The new Maruti Swift will be officially showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, while launch is expected to take place in March 2018. However, a few media reports speculate that the car will be launched at the Auto Expo. The new Swift will rival the Hyundai Grand i10, Ford Figo and the Volkswagen Polo among others. That said, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 will be unveiled to the media in January 2018. The India-spec 2018 Maruti Swift will be similar in design as compared to the international model. However, the Indian model gets different alloy wheels with a 10-spoke design. The new Swift will sport a hexagonal front grille that will be flanked by LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, floating roof with the rear door handles placed on the C-pillar, 15-inch alloy wheels and new LED taillights. The interiors are completely new with a new dashboard design, a touch-screen infotainment system, twin-pod instrument cluster with a colour MID, new flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel and new seats. For the first time, Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce the complete Swift family in India. While the company will initially launch the new Maruti Swift with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel units, media reports also suggest that the company will also launch the Swift Sport, Swift Hybrid and the Swift RS in India at a later date. The 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine produces 84 BHP of maximum power and 114 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit produces 74 BHP of power and 190 Nm of peak torque. The Swift Sport will be powered by a 1.4-litre BoosterJet engine producing 138 BHP of power and 230 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Swift RS is powered by a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine that produces 110 BHP of power and 170 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed AMT unit with paddle shifts. The Swift Hybrid is powered by a 91 BHP/120Nm 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine paired to a 15 Kw electric motor. Maruti Suzuki might as well launch an all-electric Swift in 2020 with Suzuki recently partnering with Toyota to develop and manufacture electric cars in India.
