New Maruti Swift 2018 Might Become Most Fuel Efficient Hatchback in India – Report

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 is scheduled to be launched in the country at the forthcoming 14th edition of Auto Expo next month.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), country’s largest car manufacturer is all set to launch its first product – all-new Swift for the year 2018. Slated to go on sale next month at Auto Expo 2018, the third generation Swift is lighter, stronger and could be more fuel efficient as the fact it is based on Heartect platform. As per the report from Cartoq, the Swift is claimed to return mileage of 22 kmpl and 28.4 kmpl for petrol and diesel respectively, thus, making it the most fuel efficient hatch in the country. The company has already initiated the pre-bookings for the new Swift 2018 with initial payment of INR 11,000. At the heart, the new generation Maruti Swift continues to be equipped with the same power-train options seen on the predecessor. The petrol unit is a 1.2-litre K12 VVT engine that makes 83 bhp of power with 140 Nm of torque while the oil burner is a 1.3-litre DDiS 190 unit which produces 74 bhp and 190 Nm of power figures. Transmission functionalities are taken care by 5-speed Manual gearbox as standard along with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology on petrol and diesel trims likewise 2017 Dzire. The third generation Maruti Swift will be offered in 12 variants across 4 trim levels as well as 6 exciting exterior tones. On the exterior front, the all-new Swift 2018 gets new front grille design which is complemented by floating roof line, sweptback LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, new precision cut two-tone alloy wheels, new LED tail lights, wrap around windshield with unified DLO (day light opening) graphic that gives a distinct road presence. Dimension wise, the hatchback gets length of 3840mm, width of 1735mm and height of 1530mm along with wheelbase of 2450mm and ground clearance of 163mm. On the inside, the 2018 Maruti Swift features driver oriented cockpit inspired interiors that gives a sporty, high-quality, advanced and easy to use cabin space for the passenger. Moreover, the legroom on the new Swift has been increased by approximately 28 percent than the second generation Swift. The new Swift hatchback now offers boot space of 268-litres. On the feature front, the all-new Maruti Swift also gets SmartPlay infotainment system, Push-Start Stop button, Automatic climate control, smart key, flat bottomed steering wheel with mounted audio controls and much more. Once launched in the domes market, the new Swift will go head-on against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Ford Figo, Tata Tiago and others in the segment. Coming to the price point, the new Swift is expected to get a starting price of INR 4.8 lakh (ex-showroom) while the top end variant could see a price tag of INR 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
