India bound new Renault Duster 2018 is expected to break cover this month ahead of its official public debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show in September this year. Renault’s sister company, Dacia is to showcase the next-generation Duster at an even in Paris on June 22 where we are to get the first glimpse of what the new Duster will look like. The India launch of the new Duster will only happen during the second half of 2018. Going by the spy shots which surfaced recently on the Internet, it seems that the new Renault Duster is to retain the current gen model’s rugged looks, with swelled wheel arches and a hunched up profile. Not only this, it is likely that the new Duster will remain similar in dimensions compared to the model that it is going to replace. The new Renault Duster is to be based on the automaker’s CMF-B, replacing the current BO platform, the latter of which is to underpin the Renault Kaptur, likely to launch in India by the end of this year. That said, it could be the case that the Duster becomes slightly more expensive than the current generation model. Not only this, the 2018 Duster could also be offered with a 7-seater option, in addition to the existing 5-seater version. Apart from continuing to feature a dominating exterior profile, the new Renault Duster 2018 will be a step-up min terms of its interior creature comforts and features. The material quality along with the upholstery is also expected to improve in order to increase the premium quotient of the compact SUV. To mention, the new Renault Duster 2018 is likely to feature a touchscreen multi-information display, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, auto-dimming day and night IRVM, front seat arm rest, voice command to name a few. The engine specifications of the new Renault Duster 2018 are to remain the same as before and the compact SUV will continue to be offered in both petrol as well as diesel guises. The petrol derivative will get the same 1.5-litre H4K engine churning out 104Bhp along with 142Nm of peak torque. The diesel derivative is to get the same 1.6-litre, available in two states of tune of 84Bhp and 108Bhp. Talking about the prices, the new Renault Duster 2018 is likely to fall in the range of INR 9 lakh to 14 lakh, a little above the current gen model due to its premium nature. The Duster will continue to compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Nissan Terrano.
