Hyundai India has finally launched the much anticipated Next Gen Hyundai Verna 2017 in India today at INR 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With more than 8.8 million customers in over 66 countries, the fifth generation Verna sedan will be taking the legacy further. The South Korean automaker has sold about 3.18 lakh units in the domestic market which will be taken over by the new Verna 2017. Offered in 12 variants, the new Hyundai Verna comes with Super body structure which is built from 50 percent more advanced high strength steel (AHSS) making it stronger and more reliable than the current generation. The Next-Gen Hyundai Verna 2017 is developed on four pillars which are futuristic design, dynamic performance, super safety and new technology with advance features. The pre-bookings for the new Hyundai Verna were already underway ahead of its launch with token amount of INR 25,000. Built on the all-new K2 platform which also underpins new Hyundai Elantra, the new Hyundai Verna comes with whole new level of ride comfort with smooth and precise handling. The exterior styling of the new Hyundai Verna comes with futuristic design which is sporty, aggressive and modern which styling elements inspired from Dynamic expression. At the front, the sedan gets signature style cascading grille with chrome embellishments sporting chrome slats with chrome surround projecting bold and premium stance. The sporty appeal of the sedan is enhanced by sweptback projector headlamps with LED DRLs ensuring higher illumination. The sedan also sports projector fog lamps for strong and focused illumination. The side profile of the sedan comes with coupe like appeal with chrome beltline boasts the stylish quotient along with alloy wheels. The overall appeal of the profile is further enhanced by chrome finished door handles and dual tone ORVMs with side indicator. The rear section of the sedan gets new LED tail lights, new tail gate and new dual tone bumper. Dimensionally, the new Hyundai Verna 2017 gets length of 4405mm, width of 1729mm and height of 1469mm with 2600mm of wheelbase and ground clearance of 165mm. The exterior profile of the sedan is enhanced by external colour scheme which is available in 7 options Polar White, Fiery Red, Thunder Black, Siena Brown, Flame Orange, Sleek Silver & Star Dust. The fifth generation avatar of Hyundai Verna comes with dual tone black and beige colour scheme which is complemented by leather upholstery with superior quality material. Moreover, the overall appeal of the cabin is accentuated by soft pad door arm rest which adds luxury quotient inside the cabin. The sedan also comes with supervision cluster integrating 3.5-inchTFT LCD screen enhancing the user information. Feature-wise, the Next-Gen Verna gets an 7-inch touch-screen AVN system compatible with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sliding front centre armrest, electric sunroof, front ventilated seats, cruise control, cooled glove box, reverse camera, automatic climate control, parking sensors, 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, Engine start/stop button and much more. Under the hood, the new Hyundai Verna is offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines 1.6-litre Gamma dual VTVT petrol and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel. The former is capable of developing 121bhp of max power @ 6400 rpm with peak torque of 154Nm @ 4850 rpm whereas the latter is tuned to produce 126bhp of peak power @ 4000 rpm and peak torque of 260Nm @ 1500 rpm. Both the engines are mated to in-house developed 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic units. As far as the fuel economy is concerned, the manual variants for petrol and diesel versions are claimed to return 17.70 kmpl and 24.75 kmpl respectively whereas the automatic units can proffer mileage of 15.92 kmpl and 21.02 kmpl correspondingly. Priced in the range of INR 7.99 lakh INR 12.61 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Hyundai Verna will look to intensify the rivalry in the C-segment by competing against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
