Next-Gen Kia Picanto details revealed; could be launched in India soon

Hyundai owned, South Korean automaker, Kia is going to debut the next-generation Picanto hatchback at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Ahead of this official debut, the details regarding its specifications and features have been revealed. 

Talking first about the design, the Picanto gets a revamped exterior profile which makes it look quite a lot more premium and sporty than before. The front-profile has been accentuated a bit and now comes with wrap-around headlamps which incorporate projector elements with the LED turn indicator and LED DRLs summing up the entire look. Talking about the dimensions, the next-gen Kia Picanto’s wheelbase has been increased by about 15mm, however the length of the car remains unchanged and continues to stand at 3,595mm. The cabin of the next-gen Kia Picanto has been tweaked completely and now gets an up-market yet funky layout. On the equipment front, the hatchback gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which offers connectivity through Apple Car Play, Android Connectivity and also supports rear-view parking camera. In terms of its engine specifications, in the international markets, is to comes with three engine options.

There will be a 1.0-litre and a 1.25-litre engine carried forward from the previous generation model, however they are to be revamped slightly in order to deliver better fuel efficiency and power delivery. However, with this generation update, there will also be a new 1.0-litre, turbocharged mil on offer which is to produce 98Bhp along with 172Nm of peak torque. Transmission responsibilities are to be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. 

No details are out as to when Kia is to begin its operations in India, however, we believe that if it does, the Picanto will be an ideal product choice at the initial stage for the company.
