At a recent event, Nissan not just launched the 2013 Micra but also announced the competitively priced Micra Active. Based on the previous generation Micra, the Micra Active was launched in petrol variant only, which did position it well against the other petrol cars in the market but left a lot of buyers waiting, the ones who wanted the diesel version. But a report by Indianautosblog claims that the Japanese carmaker is planning to bring the diesel powered version too. In an interview with the website, Nissan India's President and CEO, Mr. Kenichiro Yomura mentioned that Nissan's currently thinking about it.

While the 2013 Micra is available in both petrol and diesel variants, the Active is available only with the 1.2-litre petrol engine, which produces a max of 68PS of power. Although it's essentially the previous generation Micra, it gets an updated exterior design and slightly tweaked interiors. Prices for the Active start at Rs 3.50 lakh for the base XE variant going all the way up to Rs 4.71 lakh for the top-spec XV Safety variant. All prices are ex-showroom New Delhi).

Given how brilliantly the Micra Active is priced, we too think that a diesel engine would help Nissan climb the sales chart.
