Nissan showcased the premium SUV, Nisaan X-Trail Hybrid in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. If media reports to be believed, the Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is expected to be launched in the country next year by March 2017. Nissan is projecting itself as a premium brand in India and expects the Nisaan X-Trail Hybrid to further strengthen its brand image in the country. As confirmed by Guillaume Sicard, President Operations, Nissan India, the Nisaan X-Trail Hybrid will be imported into India as a CBU import from Japan. Under the Indian government’s FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and hybrid Vehicles) subsidy under NEMMP (National Electric Mobility Mission Plan), Nisaan plans to take advantage of this subsidy to price the SUV competitively as against the combined. It is being reported that the X-Trail Hybrid is currently being tested in India to customise its suspension setup and fuelling as per the Indian road conditions. While the Nissan X-Trail is expected to be launched in India by March 2017, the premium SUV will compete in the premium SUV segment with the likes of the market leader Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and the Ford Endeavour among others. While being a petrol hybrid, the X-Trail Hybrid boasts of a best in class fuel efficiency of 20kmpl.

The Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is powered by hybrid powertrain setup that consists of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing 145bhp of maximum power along with a peak torque of 207 Nm. On the other hand, the electric motor is capable of producing 40bhp of maximum power and 160 Nm of peak torque. This hybrid powertrain delivers a combined power output of 180bhp and comes mated to Nisaan's dual clutch X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission. The Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is expected to be priced in the range of INR 25 lakh to INR 30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
