NY2011: Hyundai Accent

One of Hyundai’s little stars at NY was the new Accent hatch. Essentially, it is the hatchback version of the new Verna that will be launched in India on May 11. The new Accent hatch, like the upcoming Verna, wears the new “Fluidic Sculpture” design language adopted by Hyundai. The Korean carmaker is claiming that the hatch and its sedan cousin will offer best-in-class fuel economy, which could be a true story here too.
The Accent is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine that puts out 130PS of power. The Indian Verna will get four engines though, 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre capacities in petrol as well as diesel. The Accent shown in NY will come fitted with six airbags, ECS, TCS, ABS, BA, EBD and VSM as standard. It will be interesting to see how Hyundai packages the variants in India though.
