NY2011: Scion FR-S Concept

After showing a few variations of its front-engine-rear-wheel drive concept, the FT-86, Toyota has now shown the Scion badged variant of the same, called the FR-S. The FR-S takes a lot of inspiration from the Lexus LF-A’s design and shows an insight into the design direction Toyota’s sporty cars are headed in.

The FR-S concept features 20-inch wheels and 18-inch carbon ceramic brakes which are repeatedly highlighted in the video above, but we doubt if these will make it to the production model.

The entire FT-86 line, including the Scion and the Subaru variants are expected to bring back the fun and sporty character of the older rear-wheel drive cars from the Toyota line-up, like the Hachiroku or AE-86 Toyota Corolla from 1986. Forget the AMGs and the SuperSnakes, we are eagerly waiting for the FT-86 and its derivatives!
