NY2011: Shelby GT500 SuperSnake

What do you do if you are an American carmaker or tuner and your German rivals are making big claims about their 800Nm four-door coupes? If you are a certain Shelby, you bite them back like a cobra with a muscle car that not only matches the torque output but also drips out 800PS of venomous power!

Unveiled in New York, the new GT500 Super Snake gives you an option of having 800PS of power from its 5.4-litre supercharged V8 over the stock 750PS. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

Shelby is offering a host of upgrades on the 2012 GT500 with suspensions from Ford Racing, Borla exhaust system, Baer six-piston brakes, fibreglass hood, aerodynamic scoops and Alcoa 20-inch wheels. Inside, the GT500SS gets two tone leather, while the exteriors can be garnished with matte black or matte white racing stripes.
