NY2011: Subaru Impreza

No WRX STi yet, but the insanity isn't too far away

After showing it in a concept form at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Subaru has taken the wraps off the production model of the Impreza at the New York Auto Show. The Impreza has been displayed in a four-door sedan as well as five-door hatchback form. The new Impreza is claiming to be one of the best fuel-efficient cars in its class with fuel efficiency of up to 13 kmpl on the highway and up to 10 kmpl in the city. 

The Impreza achieves this feat with its new 2.0-litre horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine which puts out 150PS of power, mated to a new CVT gearbox. The Impreza has also lost a lot of weight to help achieve the competitive fuel efficiency figures. All this sounds great to our environment loving soul but the devilish side is eagerly waiting for the WRX STi treatment…
