Porsche is updating its sportscar portfolio gradually and looks like the German performance vehicle manufacturer is taking the Indian market seriously. Porsche is launching the updates to their 718 Cayman and 718 Boxter today. The dealerships for the Volkswagen-owned brand has already started receiving bookings for these cars. Both the Sportscars will be featuring an updated engine which will smaller in capacity and still higher on the power front. The 3.4 litre, flat six is set to be replaced by a 2.0 litre turbo flat-four unit which produces 298 bhp of power with 380 Nm of torque. The motor will be mated to Porsches 7-speed PDK dual clutch transmission. This motor sends the Sportscars to a 100 kmph from naught in 4.7 seconds while the top speed is rated at 275 kmph. The cosmetic changes include the beautiful bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs and new LED taillamps. To make it an all-LED affair, the company offers LED headlights as options. Both the cars also feature a retuned chassis, wider front profile with side-air intakes fitted perfectly with side skirts for aiding the aerodynamics.
Porsche recently updated the Panamera and before that launched the smaller version of the Macan SUV which made it fairly easier for a Porsche aficionado to own one at a starting price tag of INR 78 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Indian lineup of Porsche consists of Macan, Panamera, Cayenne, Boxter and the iconic 911 sportscar.
