Renault, the French automaker, has finally launched the much-awaited Kwid small car in India. The small car is the company's global hatchback, which is priced at INR 2.57 lakh. It will be produced at the Renault-Nissan Alliance's Chennai-based production facility. The small car rival against the likes of the Hyundai Eon and the Maruti Alto . Here is a spec based comparison between the Kwid, Eon and the Alto.

Kwid Vs Eon Vs Alto 800 Engine Specification:

The Renault Kwid will be powered by a newly-developed 799cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 54 PS and a peak torque of 72 Nm. It is claimed to be India's most fuel efficient petrol car with ARAI rated mileage of 25.17kmpl.

On the other hand, the Eon packs a 0.8 litre petrol engine that offers a maximum power output of 56 PS and a peak torque of 74.5 Nm. The engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

As for the Alto 800, under the hood the car packs a 796cc petrol engine producing a maximum power output of 48 PS and a peak torque of 69 Nm, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Kwid Vs Eon Vs Alto 800 Styling and Exterior Design:

The Kwid small car sports the company's global design language. This tall boy hatchback gets some aggressive features that add to its overall styling. Based on Renault's new CMF-A platform that will also underpins the Datsun Redi-Go, the Kwid features a chiselled, muscular front end, short front and rear overhangs, C-shaped twin-slat chrome grille, sleek and sweptback headlamps, and more pronounced bumper with fog lamps deeply inserted into air-lets. There is body cladding on wheel arches that adds to its sporty touch.

The vehicle gets 13-inch alloys and steel wheels. Dimensionally the Renault KWID comes with a Length of 3,679mm, a width of 1,579mm, a height of 1,471mm and a wheelbase of 2422mm. The car comes with a high ground clearance of about 180mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions better than the Alto and Eon.

On the other hand, Hyundai Eon is based on the company's Fluidic design philosophy. The car features aggressive creases and curves. In terms of dimensions the Eon is 3,495mm long and 1,550mm wide. In comparison, the Alto 800 has the most simplistic design with limited flowing lines and familiar fascia. Dimensionally the Alto 800 is the smallest among all three with a length of 3,395mm and a width of 1,490mm.

When it comes to features the Kwid offers various class leading equipments like a 7-inch touch-screen, MediaNAV with navigation functions, radio and bluetooth, chrome air conditioning vents, digital instrument cluster, etc. To keep you entertained while inside the car Renault has equipped the KWID with gizmos like Hands-free telephony and audio streaming, iPhone & iPod Operation- Audio Control Display, Navigate iPod Thru Media/NAV and USB Charging, USB, AUX-in, SDVC- Audio Playback through Aux-in, Pen-drive and Phone, Speed dependent Adjustable Volume Control.

 

Adding to it, the Kwid also scores more on comfort. Due to its tall stance, the car offers excellent headroom space for both front and rear occupants. On the other hand, the Alto and Eon lacks space for rear occupants.

On the other hand the Hyundai Eon comes equipped with keyless entry, driver airbag and tilt adjustable steering. Additionally the car also offer entertainment features like a basic two-speaker audio system with radio, USB and AUX compatibility.

 

In comparison the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 also gets equipment like power steering, front power windows, air conditioning and central locking. Unlike the Kwid, it gets a basic two-speaker audio system with radio, USB and AUX compatibility. However, it gets tubeless tyres and optional driver side airbags.
