The Maruti Suzuki Ritz (called as the Suzuki Splash in UK and Japan) has been doing relatively well in the small car segments in Europe and Japan. It has been around globally for over four years now and was in dire need of an update. Now that it’s got one, Suzuki has launched the Ritz/Splash in UK at an entry level price tag of GBP 7,777 which works out to around Rs 6.70 lakh.
The car is available with two K-Series petrol engines; a 1-litre petrol engine with 68PS of power and a 1.2-litre producing 93PS. There’s no diesel version on offer for the European market. As for the trim levels, the Splash can be had in three versions – SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4. Also now available with the facelift are two new colors in the form of Sparkling Blue Metallic and Bison Brown Pearl Metallic.
The facelift sports a refreshed front-end with a new bumper, new fog lamp surround and a grille. When viewed head-on, the new Ritz looks slightly taller and leaner due to lots of vertical lines in the design. There are minor changes to the rear of the car and also to the interior design to maintain the novelty factor.
The updated Ritz is likely to be on our shores before the festive season given that Suzuki has replaced the earlier version in many markets overseas. For the Indian market, there won’t be many changes under the hood and car will still be powered by 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engines; although they might be tweaked a little for better efficiency.
