Swift production back to normal, SX4 and A-Star to resume
Unrest continues but production limps back to normal
Maruti Suzuki has been limping back to some semblance of normality this past week. Yesterday, 625 units of the Swift were produced in Gurgaon and Manesar thanks to the 1110 people that are working at Manesar. The company plans to keep hiring so that output can increase. Part of this output is going to be the SX4 and A-Star models, that had been stopped thanks to the much larger demand for the Swift.
Among the other good news is the fact that the Harayana government is talking to both the management and the workforce again, but on an informal basis. In fact, there aren't any official talks going on among any of the parties but apparently informal talks are going on.
Whatever kind of Maruti customer you are, there seems to be light on the horizon. Even the company seems to be getting back on track for the festive rush, although whether it will be able to commit to delivery times equal to the competition remains to be seen.
