After globally unveiling the Tata 45X premium hatchback at the 14th edition of Indian Auto Expo earlier this month, the home-grown auto manufacturing company has revealed the interiors of the Maruti Baleno rival. The Pune based car maker also showcased H5X SUV at the motor show. We previously also reported that Tata is planning to unveil 45X based sedan at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2018. Moreover, the hatchback was also spotted testing on the Indian roads ahead of its global debut. The hatchback is also expected to come into production at Tata’s facility in Gujarat. Tata 45X premium hatchback will be based on Alpha RC platform, previously called AMP, which will be pitted against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. The premium hatchback is speculated to go on sale sometime next year. However, not many details about the car have been revealed as of now. To be built on IMPACT Design philosophy 2.0, the hatchback will be positioned above Tiago small car in Tata’s product line up for the domestic market. Going by the images, the cockpit gets a sporty and futuristic design wherein the dashboard sports a multi-layered wider touchscreen infotainment system and instrument cluster. The overall appeal of the cabin is accentuated by the materials such as plastic, wood and leather. Additional highlights of the interior are floating touchscreen AC control panel, multi-function steering wheel with integrated paddle shifters, matching patterns on the carpet and door cladding, bucket seats with bolstering and thigh support, glass roof and much more. On the mechanical front, the powertrain options on the hatchback are not confirmed yet. However, it is speculated that the car could borrow engines from Nexon – 1.2-litre Revotron Petrol and 1.05-litre Revotorq Diesel. The petrol engine will be re-tuned for better performance while the oil burner is expected to see an inclusion of VGT. Coming to the price point, the upcoming 45X hatchback is expected to carry a competitive price tag which could be slotted in the price bracket of INR 5 lakh to INR 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
