Tata Motors seems to be one of the busiest car manufacturers in the Indian automotive market. The home-grown carmaker recently launched the Tata Hexa crossover SUV while the company is gearing up to launch the Tata Kite 5 compact sedan in March 2017. If reports from Overdrive are to be believed, Tata Motors is on the verge of launching its performance oriented sub-division, to be named TaMo. According to company insiders, TaMo is short for Tata Motors and is in line with the N Sport & Mugen divisions of Hyundai and Honda. The report further states that the company well formally announce the launch of the performance division later today, while it is also expected to showcase the design of its first ever performance car. The first performance car under the TaMo division will be unlike any other Tata Motors’ car till date, which is expected to be the most powerful car from the company. Tata Motors, in the past, had showcased the Bolt Sport at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The Bolt Sport is a completely different project while the cars to be spawned under the TaMo sub-division will be completely performance focused. The first TaMo car will be designed, conceptualized and developed simultaneously at Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC) in Coventry, UK along with Tata Engineering Research Centre (ERC) in Pune, India. Furthermore, the company might only reveal the design sketches of the upcoming car along with the formal announcement of the sub-brand. However, we can expect the car to be showcased as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 while the production ready version of the car will be launched in 2018-19. The company will held a press conference later in the day, where it will announce its future strategies and launch plans of the upcoming Tata cars in India.
