Tata Motors has today flagged off the Tata Tigor Electric Vehicle (EV) from its facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The first batch of the Tigor EV was rolled out by N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons and Tata Motors. The Tata Tigor EVs are manufactured by Tata Motors for Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), which is an entity under the Ministry of Power. The first batch of the Tata Tigor electric vehicles was rolled out in the presence of Mr. Ratan N Tata – Chairman Emeritus, Tata Group and Mr. Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors. Speaking on the occasion Mr. N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Group, said, “This occasion is a significant milestone for Tata Motors and a proud moment for the entire team. As we work together to build the future of e-mobility in India, I am confident that our customers will respond very favourably to this electric model. Tata Motors won the tender for 10,000 electric cars floated by EESL in September 2017 and qualified as an L1 bidder in the midst of stiff competition. Tata Motors is expected to deliver 250 Tigor EVs in the phase 1 of this order. While the company has received a LoA (Letter of Authority) for the initial 250 units, EESL is expected to issue another LoA for an additional 100 cars. The electric power-train for this Tigor EV has been developed by Electra EV.
