Tata X451 Premium Hatchback Rendered; India Launch, Expected Price, Features, Specs

Tata X451 premium hatchback will take on the rivals like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 that is anticipated to launch in India by 2019.

We previously reported that Tata Motors, a home-grown auto maker is now focusing on the all-new premium hatchback which is codenamed as X451. The premium hatchback has been spotted testing in India previously which is expected to hit the domestic market by 2019. To be pitted against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20, the X451 will adopt Tata’s IMPACT design philosophy that also underpins Tiago small car. Expected to make its public debut at Auto Expo 2018, the premium hatchback will be based on AMP (Advanced Modular Platform) platform. Going by the rendered images, the X451 hatchback will sport Hexa-like grille upfront accentuated by sweptback headlamps, ceramic highlights on the shoulder line, sloping roofline, wrap around tail lights and much more. Talking about the powerhouse, the premium hatchback will be equipped with the same engine options as seen on the Nexon. The petrol iteration could be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that will be offered in different state of tune for generating more power. On the other hand, the diesel version will be a turbo-charged unit which will also be lifted from Nexon. The oil burner will make 90 BHP of maximum power and the transmission duties will be carried out by 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual for the petrol and diesel engines. The premium hatchback will be longer than Tiago by over 200mm more than Tiago yet still would fall under the 4-metre mark. This premium offering from Tata will be rolled out from its Sanand facility in Gujarat. As far as the prices are concerned, the car maker will be looking to the prices pretty competitive. We speculate that the hatch to be priced in the range of INR 5 lakh to INR 7.5 lakh.
