The strike at Maruti's Manesar facility is now in its thirteenth day, and it has spread to its sister concerns Suzuki Powertrain and Suzuki Motorcycle. Yesterday, over 4000 workers went on strike at three different facilities: Suzuki Powertrain India, Suzuki Castings, a part of Suzuki Powertrain, and Suzuki Motorcycles India.  Also Read - Why London High Court Thinks Vijay Mallya Should be Given More Time

This means that all diesel engine production for Maruti has currently stopped, as has Suzuki motorcycle production. The same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine in different states of tune is used across the Maruti range, so customers for diesel variants of the Swift, Dzire, Ritz or SX4 will be waiting a bit longer for their car to be delivered. Considering that most of Maruti's sales are of the diesel versions of its popular models, this is a significant development.
