After showcasing it at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi, Toyota India has launched the Camry Hybrid in India. Priced at Rs 29.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Camry Hybrid is the country’s first ever locally manufactured hybrid car.

The company has made it official that bookings for the Camry Hybrid have already begun and that the car will be manufactured at a separate assembly line at Toyota's second plant in Bidadi, near Bangalore.

Although based on a regular Camry, the Camry Hybrid distinguishes itself with the help of a redesigned grille, LED headlamps and a new logo seen on Toyota’s other hybrid models. Inside, the car gets four airbags, 3-zone air-conditioning, powered reclining rear seat and front seats with heat ventilation.

Under the hood, the Camry Hybrid uses a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The total power output is rated at around 205PS, which gets transferred to the road via e-CVT gearbox. The gearbox features two driving modes – Eco and EV. Toyota says the Camry Hybrid is capable of returning 19.16 kmpl which is quite impressive considering the size of the car.
